Here's the first installment of what will be a semi-regular feature of this podcast - Fridays With Friends - where I'll be interviewing some of my buds. Matt Stocks is the Larry King of Rock N Roll. One of the best interviewers out there, and Ive ben on his podcasts twice. And this week I turn the tables and interview him about his upcoming book Life In The Stocks Volume 2 and then we dig into his relationship with alcohol and his newfound sobriety. 

It's not often I finish recording an episode and think "Wow, that was a great one!" but today was exactly that. It's 2 hours and 21 minutes about my relationship with alcohol. And depression. Because of course they are more closely interwoven than the kevlar fibers on a bulletproof vest. A lot of people have reached out lately telling me I've inspired them on their own journeys of sobriety. So I laid mine all out right here. Plus I get into my love of Primal Scream and Bobby Gillespie's new memoir Tenement Kid. Would recommend!

This week I ramble and reflect on 2021, the holidays and how I got here. I dive into my feelings on capitalism, loss of ambition, not wanting to be a cog in the machine of money-making, and what might be next. Are you feeling overwhelmed with everything that's happened this year? I am too. But it's OK! And I dig into why it's OK, and how I continue to push back against deep seated feelings of insecurity, loneliness and isolation. And I do it all in a way that I can almost promise isn't depressing. But instead, uplifting!! Inshallah.

This week I went in an exciting new direction! I posted on FB asking for topic ideas about 30 minutes before I sat down to record - and I went through and addressed them all. How I ended up in Yellow Pine, how we get groceries here, what was the first guitar music that affected me, paintings of myself, glitter removal strategies, my best friend Rodney and much much more. That was exceptionally fun as I was reading the ideas in real time so didn't have anything prepped. Will def do this again!

This week I ramble about my first full week in my house in Yellow Pine. And the writing process. And the dread of dredging up a lot of painful memories from my childhood. But it's not all bad!
